Town Park 5K

The fifth race of Telford AC's Sexarathon Series took place last Wednesday
in Telford's Town Park. Newport and District Running Club's turnout was
good, but slightly depleted due to some members being injured or on
holiday.

The club's green strip made them look like amphibians, which suited
conditions on the night which were little short of awful with persistent
rain throughout the race. This left the course waterlogged and the
athletes had to race through huge puddles as they ran.

Robin Guy was first home for the Newport club, breaking the eighteen
minute barrier to finish 32nd in 17m 54s. Glenn Macdonald-Jones returned
from holiday to prove that he had lost no fitness during his time away to
finish 37th in 18m 15s. Ian Kevan also had a good run to gain 54th place
in 19m 00s.

Steve Tudor continued to do well in the series despite the conditions to
finish 57th in 19m 23s with Gary Postins chasing him home just one place
and 5 seconds adrift. Chris Adcock was 71st in 20m 03s and Jason Rollinson
made a welcome return to racing to achieve 76th in a time of 20m 23s.

Brian Kelson continued to improve crossing the line in 80th place in a
time of 20m 26s and Pete Johnstone did well to be only three seconds
behind him in 83rd.

Sandy MacKenzie and Mark Deighton had a close battle right to the line
with Sandy just gaining the honours to finish 92nd in 20m 52 and Mark just
1 second behind in 93rd.

Steve Fowles 103rd 21m 09s
