Cader Idris Fell Race
On Saturday 27th May three of the club travelled to Dolgellau for the annual fell race to the summit (2927ft) of Cader Idris, approx. 10.5miles. This was a new race to us all on unfamiliar ground. There was light rain for most of the run and the cloud level was low, but route finding was not a problem with a field of 209 runners.
Glenn finished 59th in 1:57:26, Sandy 115th in 2:05:54 and Helen 188th in 2:29:04. Helen managed to get 2 prizes, a spot prize as she crossed the line and 1st LV50. Pontesbury Fell Race

Pontesbury Fell Race 3miles 1160’ascent

A total of 125 runners took part in the Pontesbury Fell Race on Wednesday 24th May. It was a drizzly evening and some good mud on the field, but the view from the top was well worth it. 6 club members took part in the event, some seemed to enjoy it more than others! Richard went some way to conquering his fear of stiles, a problem he has had since the Manx Mountain Marathon (don’t ask anymore).
Glenn had a good run considering it was his first fell race since the Manx and managed to come away with a mug for being 3rd MV50. Helen won LV50 category.

Caradoc Classic Fell Race 10^th May 2006

A few of the regular fell racers from the club were missing due to injury/colds/busy/couldn’t be arsed, but nevertheless 4 club members took part and enjoyed a beautiful summers evening doing what they like best.

Sandy MacKenzie also encouraged Daniel Lewis a student at Harper Adams University College to take part. Daniel turned out to be a star coming 4^th in the race in a time of 24:26. Daniel is a member of Shaftsbury and Barnet Athletic Club, but who knows with a bit of persuasion…..
