Ironbridge Sexarathon Race

Last Wednesday saw around 230 athletes converge on the Ironbridge Gorge
for the fourth race in Telford AC's Sexarathon series.
Conditions were hot and humid, which had an effect on some runner's times,
but the racing was as competitive as ever with runners at all levels
battling it out in the age group competitions.
Newport and District Running Club had several runners missing due to
holidays and injury, but still managed their now customary highest club
turnout, with forty members participating in the 4.2 mile race.
John Garmson was first back for the club in 17th place overall in a fast
time of 24m 34s with Noel Hogan thirty seconds behind him in 24th place.
Glenn MacDonald-Jones seems to be improving as the season progresses and
was closing in on those in front of him to finish 27th in 25m 34s. Robin
Guy was not far behind in 25m54s to gain 31st position.
Ian Kevan and Steve Tudor had their own personal battle throughout the
race and it was close right up to the finish, with Ian taking the honours
on this occasion to finish 37th in 26m 39s and Steve 38th just four
seconds adrift.
Morris Reid just beat Gary Postins to gain 60th place in 28m 41s with Gary
only four second behind him in 61st. 69th place went to Brian Kelson in
29m 05s and Mark Deighton was 73rd in 29m 13s.
